Abstract:
The “General High School Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standards (2017 Edition, Revised in 2020)” and the “Compulsory Education Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standards (2022 Edition)” have been successively issued in China. These curriculum standards are national policy documents which play an important guiding role in the teaching of physical education and health curriculum. It is necessary to develop a teaching model so as to implement the essence and requirements of these curriculum standards. The model could help physical education teachers to understand the constitutes of a standard-compliant lesson and guides them to conduct each class according to the model. This method can ensure high-quality physical education classroom teaching, benefit students and promoting them to have greater development. The model is constructed based on long-term research and practice, especially the three-year curriculum standard experimental research organized by the Curriculum and Textbook Research Institute of the Ministry of Education in several experimental areas across the country. Firstly, this study explains the key issues that the model aims to address, reflecting a problem-oriented approach. Then, the primary foundations of the model is discussed, highlighting its goal-oriented nature. Additionally, this study analyzes the model’s concepts, components, outcomes, and evaluation, emphasizing its innovation-driven orientation. Long-term and many experimental practices have demonstrated that the model has significant positive effects with characteristics of practicality, replicability, and scalability. It is hoped that the physical education teachers will apply this model to deliver high-quality teaching in each lesson. The cumulative impact of these lessons will help to develop students’ core competencies in physical education and health, promoting their physical and mental well-being, physical strength, and overall development.
