Abstract:
Objective: This study aims to quantify the economic stimulus effect of consumer entities in provincial-level sports events, using the Jiangsu Football City League (
Suchao) as a case study. Method: A randomized survey was administered to live spectators across 13 matches (Rounds 4−6) of the
Suchao, yielding 2 332 valid questionnaires for consumption data analysis. Direct economic stimulus effects were estimated based on spectator type and spending patterns, while indirect effects were calculated using an input-output model. Result: Findings reveal a total estimated live attendance of 2.65 million (38.25% non-local vs 61.75% local), with non-local spectators spending an average of 592.94 yuan and local spectators 229.60 yuan.
Suchao generated direct, indirect, and total economic stimulus values of 976 million yuan, 2.136 billion yuan, and 3.112 billion yuan, respectively. The economic multiplier effects were 3.05 for non-local spectators, 3.41 for local spectators, and an aggregate of 3.19. Conclusions: The study concludes that
Suchao significantly drives both direct and indirect economic growth, amplified by the integration of cultural, sports, commercial, and tourism sectors.
