Abstract: In this paper,the discussion about whether sport is an art in the late of 20th century is introduced.This discussion is brought about by the revolution of modern art theory.By using the method of induction,this discussion is summarized.According to the logic of scholars,the way taken by discussion can be divided into three aspects:whether culture institutions and sports world of assessment can christen sport art;how similar sport and art are with each other;whether sport can be treated as art with its aesthetic functions.Each way has its advantages and disadvantages.The discussion has no conclusion,but has furthered our understanding of both sport and art.
