Abstract: Understanding the foreign research of sports and social capital is the purpose of this article.The methods of literature review, comparison, theoretical analysis are used.Firstly, the author reviewed, classified and analyzed the foreign research topics and achievements which studied sports and social capital and drew some conclusions:The research of sports and social capital stems from Robert D.Putnam's research which sports associations and clubs are regarded as major indicators of measuring social capital.The research of sports and social capital focuses on sports fostering social capital.“Social capital”have been bringing into sports policy by some developed countries.Then, the main characteristics and trends of the foreign achievements of sports and social capital are analyzed and induced.Finally, the author compares the foreign and native achievements of sports and social capital and draws some enlightenment.
