Abstract: Shared prosperity is the essential requirement of socialism and the common expectation of the people. This study delves into the historical progression, shifts in rationale, grassroots experimentation, and forthcoming possibilities regarding the role of sports in driving rural revitalization within the shared prosperity perspective. Various methods, including literature analysis, case studies, and expert interviews, are employed. The research demonstrates that across different historical phases, namely “revolutionary pursuit of wealth,” “strategic wealth-building,” “reform-driven prosperity,” and “poverty alleviation leading to shared wealth,” sports have consistently propelled the development of rural societies. However, within the shared prosperity framework, sports-driven rural revitalization necessitates logical transformations across various aspects, such as objectives, values, dimensions, and approaches, in comparison to previous practices. Ah analysis of three representative models in Zhejiang Province's shared prosperity demonstration areas reveals the importance of appropriately managing the relationship between government and the market, combining external support with internal capacity development, and transitioning from isolated breakthroughs to a more coordinated approach.Recommendations for the future focus on specific practices related to fostering prosperous industries, creating eco-friendly living environments, promoting rural cultural development, enhancing governance effectiveness, and improving living standards, all within the shared prosperity vision.
