Theory, Problem and Strategy: New Thoughts on the Development of Sports Debut Economy in China

The sports debut economy profoundly reshapes the industrial supply structure and consumption ecosystem of the sports sector, positioning it as a core catalyst for the high-quality development of sports industry during China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period. This study identifies multiple prominent bottlenecks constraining the development of the sports debut economy in China. Inadequate policy guidance and the slow development of dedicated safeguard mechanisms constitute institutional constraints, whereas the insufficient supply of production factors and superficial technological application hinder systemic industrial upgrading. Delayed cultivation of market demand results in weak momentum for industrial growth. Moreover, inefficient synergies across supportive industries and inadequate cross-sector integration capabilities restrict industrial development. Imperfections in market factors further limit the release of industrial vitality. While external transformative opportunities are emerging, the ability to transform opportunities is insufficient. Additionally, the surging anti-globalization wave creates mounting pressures on transnational factor allocation. To mitigate these challenges, this study formulates a set of targeted strategies. It emphasizes strengthened top-level planning and guidance to refine the institutional and policy framework, alongside the cultivation of high-end production factors and unimpeded factor circulation channels. It also underscores the stimulation of new consumption potential to cultivate a consumption demand ecosystem and the improvement of the efficiency of supporting industries to build an innovation ecosystem. Further strategies involve optimizing the market competition environment to activate endogenous market vitality, leveraging external opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of policy implementation and practical transformation, and advancing international collaborative innovation to improve global cooperation and development. These recommendations aim to provide ideas and methods for accelerating the development of sports debut economy in China.
