The National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities and the Forging of a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation: Institutional Logic, Practical Mechanisms, and Future Directions
-
Abstract
The National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities have gradually evolved into a significant practical arena for forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation throughout their long-term development. The evolutionary process of the Games manifests an institutional logic characterized by the mutual constitution of institutional evolution and institutional design, which, through mechanisms such as meaning production, relational connection, and emotional internalization, synergistically contributes to the formation of this sense of community. In addressing the practical challenges currently confronting the Games in their role of promoting this endeavor, future efforts should further strengthen political guidance, deepen the narrative interpretation of the community, expand digital and international communication, optimize the event system and participation structure, improve institutionalized arrangements for cross-ethnic interaction, facilitate the ongoing utilization of event resources in everyday life, and refine collaborative governance and institutional safeguards. These measures aim to better fulfill the pivotal role of the National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities in this process.
