Research on Muscle Activation and Movement Patterns of Adult Female Supine Hip Extension

    • Objective:To study the muscle activation and movement patterns during prone hip extension exercise in women and explore the effects of verbal cues on muscle activation order.Method:When given verbal cues, participants are expected to use muscle activation order of medial hamstrings, followed by lateral hamstrings, then gluteus maximum;when without cues, these three pieces are almost simultaneously activated by gluteus. But, the activation of hamstrings decreases in the initiation of movement, moreover, the activation of medial hamstrings decreases throughout the movement. Conclusion:The muscle activation order during prone hip extension is consistent in healthy women and muscle activation timing and amplitude can be modified with verbal cues. This study can provide the theoretical basis and recovery method of muscle soreness in waist and hip of female sufferer.
