Abstract
Objective:To explore the influence of the aerobic training on learning and memory, the level of serum testosterone, and expression of nNOS within Hippocampus CA1 of brain in the aged rats. Methods:SD aged rats(24-mouth) were chosen and randomly divided into 2 groups:the aged control group and the aerobic training group. The control group kept normal activities and the aerobic training group undertook the 8-week training with progressively increasing load. Then each animal's capability of learning and memory and the level of serum testosterone were examined, and nNOS expression within Hippocampus CA1 was detected and analyzed.Results:1) Compared with the aged group, the level of testosterone of blood plasma increased(P<0.05),the time of completing 8-arms radial maze shortened(P<0.05),error frequency significantly decreased(P<0.05) in the aerobic training group;2)Compared with the aged group, the amount and area of nNos within Hippocampus CA1 obviously increased(P<0.05) in the aerobic training group. Conclusion:The aerobic training may enhance the learning and memory ability of the aged rats, and its mechanism might be that aerobic training increase the level of serum testosterone and reinforced expression of nNOS within Hippocampus CA1 at the same time.
