Abstract
In order to better promote the exercise participation of the sedentary urban adults, this study validated the structure and the stage of assumption of the Health Action Process Approach(HAPA) in the Chinese cultural context.Based on the 336 adults' sample data(age:28.77±6.10),the structure of HAPA was validated using the method of structural equation modeling. In addition, this study used polynomial trends analyses and the analyses of variance with post-hoc-contrasts to test the discontinuity pattern and non-linear trends of the HAPA,that is the stage of assumption of the HAPA.It comes to the conclusions that:1)The HAPA model can interpretate to a certain extent the exercise behavior of the adults in the context of Chinese culture effectively.2)Resultspartially supported that the HAPA was the stage model. In the future research, this study suggests that it needs to increase the sample size in order to further validite the structure and the stage assumption of the HAPA;and need to apply the HAPA to take intervention on the Chinese adults of exercise behavior through longitudinal study design. In addition,it needs to emphasize the execution and the development of plans in order to promote individual to participate in physical exercise regularly.
