  • Objective:Using treadmill to find indirect measurement methods of VO2max,explore a simple and effective cardiorespiratory endurance testing and evaluation methods, which is applicable to the general public. Methods:Taking 48 male college students as the research object, using the direct test method, secondary treadmill prediction method, improved PCIOprediction method to calculate VO2max and analyze the correlation of the three methods.Results:1) for young male population, there is a significant correlation(r=0.569,P<0.001) between the secondary treadmill prediction method(use 10.2 METs and 12.1 METs) and the direct test method.2) improve the PCI(Physiological Cost Index) prediction method, define a new parameter PCIO=3.5×(exercise intensity-1) /(exercise heart rate-resting heart rate). There is a significant correlation(r=0.774,P<0.01) between the PCIO value under 10.2 METs and the PCIO value under 12.1 METs.There is a significant correlation(r=0.661,P<0.001) between the PCIO prediction method and the direct test method.Conclusion:1)For young male population, select 10.2 METs and 12.1 METs to predict VO2max with the secondary treadmill prediction method, could effectively assess cardiorespiratory endurance, but estimate of the maximum heart rate and the the choice of exercise intensity affect the validity of the assessment.2)The PCIO prediction method only need to measure in one phase, compared to the secondary treadmill prediction method,it is convenient and fast, easy to implement and control, and can be a new indirect measurement method of cardiorespiratory endurance for the general public.
