“Free of Choices”and“Empowered Body”——Resolution of Sport to the Dilemma of Women’s Leisure

This paper, from the perspective of feminist theory, revealed the double meanings of leisure to women, which are“freedom and development”versus“anomie and alienation”.It argues that sports activities can contribute to breaking down the constraints of leisure on women and solving the practical problems through three approaches:body practice and empowerment, breaking through the dual structure of gender space, resisting the gender order.At last, it pointed out that sport would bring women free of choices and empowerment in individual and micro-dimension.However, this goal could be only achieved by providing an equal, free and appropriate social institution and cultural environment.
