Abstract
It is generally believed in China that ancient Olympics were abolished by a law under the rule of Theodosia the Grand. In Italy, scholars have also argued for a long time on whether there was a specific law that aimed at abolishing ancient Olympics. The observation on Theodosia Code proved that there was no such law in history of late Roman Empire.Ancient Olympics disappeared automatically rather than being abolished. The beginning time of the disappearance started from the wide application of the constitution on oppression of the paganism under the rule of Theodosia the Grand in September of 394.After the final constitution of oppression of paganism issued by Theodosia II in November 453, there would be no any possibility of the existence of ancient Olympics.
