Body,Power and Sports Participation under the Perspective of Feminism

    • This paper, from the perspective of feminism, revealed the relationships between the body, the power and sports participation through using sociology method. The purpose is to oppose the society treating females as being oppressed, to treat bodies as cognitive signs, to show characteristics of females' bodies and to ultimately control social rights. The result shows that female's bodies, instead of being born originally, are constructed by patriarchy.Due to different understanding of the body, the establishment of a male-dominated social valuation system has led to gender discrimination and loss of female's social rights. However, sports, being such kind of body practice, can get females' bodies stronger and entitle females with equal social position as males.Despite the fact that males currently still have the final say in sports, however, feminists are keeping struggling.Only through this way can the power of decision in sports be built on feminism, which in turn, further enables females to gain more power in sports to combat against male-dominated social hegemonism.
