The Effect of Sling Exercise Therapy Using Advanced and Closed Kinetic Chain on Balance Ability of Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis

    • To discuss the effect of sling exercise training using advanced and closed kinetic chain method on balance ability of patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA).A total of 40 patients with knee osteoarthritis were assigned randomly to control group(n=10)and experimental group(n=30),received both conventional physical therapy and medication.Experimental group patients received further sling exercise therapy such as quadriceps and hamstring muscle strength training, joint activity training and proprioceptive training. In this paper, the balance ability of knee healthy side and affected side were contrastively investigated between control group and experimental group patients after four weeks of treatment. The results shows that control group there was a small statistically significant effect(P<0.05)about several stability index at knee healthy side under antero-posterior axis and A2-A6 axis positions. There was statistically significant difference about the experimental groups balance stability index(P<0.05).Control group there was a small statistically significant effect(P<0.05)about stability index at affected side under antero-posterior axis position. In contrast to,experimental group there was a small statistically significant effect(P<0.05)about several stability index at affected side. After the sling exercise therapy using advanced closed kinetic chain, the stability indexes of dynamic balancing capabilities of the patients with knee osteoarthritis problems have been greatly improved and made patients increased control ability on joint position and kinaesthesis abilities.
