Abstract
Based on the provincial panel data from 2005 to 2015, this paper analyzes the impact of sports industry agglomeration on regional economic growth with static and dynamic panel models, and calculates the level of provincial sports industry agglomeration with industry proportion index. The empirical results show that both static and dynamic panel models support the assumption that China's sports industry agglomeration can significantly contribute to economic growth, and the static model shows that GDP will increase 1.85 percentage while sports industry agglomeration increases a unit. There is a significant nonlinear relationship between sports industry agglomeration and economic growth, presenting an inverted U-shaped structure, which means that moderate sports industry agglomeration can promote economic growth, but excessive sports industry agglomeration is not conducive to economic growth. The impact of China's sports industry agglomeration on economic growth exist significant regional differences. The central region has the strongest effect on economic growth, followed by the eastern region and the lowest in the western region. This paper also presents some proposals:the government should play a corresponding role in different stages of sports industrial agglomeration development; in order to avoid the convergence of internal structure, government should pay attention to the development planning of sports industry agglomeration, the eastern region should seek differentiation in sports industry development;strengthen the regional cooperation of sports industry, and encourage the sports industry agglomeration in the central and western regions.
