    Professional Sports and Economic Growth:Competition,Happiness and GDP

    • This paper studies the potential and significance of Chinese professional sports industry.Firstly, the paper points out that professional sports has the general nature of industrial economy and follow the same law of industrial development in the market economy, from the perspectives of price determination, factor allocation, industrial layout, actor behavior, the role of competition, the characteristics of the network and the digital era, and the level of globalization.Next, this study analyzes the growth potential of professional sports in an industrial development theory framework.China has several advantages in terms of population size, investment willingness, Internet technology and popularity, and governments' capacity to act, accordingly, the future professional sports development is very prosperous;it could increase the current league matches, expand leagues, increase the types of leagues and even attempt multiple games.The last part shows that in order to realize the above vision, we have to emancipate the mind, reform and open up, innovate constantly, dare to face and surpass, and form our Chinese unique professional sports development path.In brief, the growth brought about by professional sports arises from happiness and health, which has both economic and social values, and therefore should receive full attention.
