The Challenges of Transhumanism to the Sport

    • As a world-wide intellectual and cultural movement in the west from 1990s, transhumanism permeates in the sport in resent years, whose aims of improvement of human body, intelligence and emotions, in some respect, are “harmonious” with the pursuit of excellence in the sport, but basically are challenges. The idea of its transcending the limits of human biologic and genetic condition, its “posthuman” goal, not only calls in question the prohibition of gene doping in the sport, but also justifies for “transhuman athlete”, “posthuman athlete” and “gene-enhanced athlete”.This perfectionism of transcending human limits, however, as a pathological conception, breaches the essence of sports and smashes humanity as well.
