Exercise, Bronchospasm and Asthma——Clarifying, Facing and Balancing

    • Exercise, bronchospasm and asthma have been studied for half a century. Exercise has long been recognized as a trigger for bronchospasm and asthma. With the global number of asthma and the number of elite athletes' asthma incidence continued to increase, it is of utmost importance and urgency to clarify the interaction between exercise, bronchospasm and asthma. In this paper, based on the related concepts of exercise-induced bronchospasm and asthma, the causes of asthma in athletes are summarized according to the relevant pathological and physiological mechanisms at home and abroad. The main purpose is to face up to the bidirectional effects of exercise-induced bronchospasm and asthma, and exercise to improve asthma. Finally, the adverse effects of high intensive exercise on asthma patients and the positive effects of moderate intensive regular exercise on overall health are clarified.
