The Consistency of Power between 6-km or 60-min Tests on Rowing Ergometer and Anaerobic Threshold in Elite Female Rowers

    • Objective: To investigate the consistency of power between 6-km test (P6) or 60-min test (P60) on rowing ergometer and anaerobic threshold (P4) . Methods: The power data of P6, P60 and P4 were collected from 86 female elite rowers from January 2009 to January 2018. The paired T test, Pearson test, ICC and Bland-Altman test were used to do data analysis. Results: The power of P6 was significantly higher than P4 (P<0.01) , but no significant difference was found between P60 and P4 (P>0.05) . The power of P6 was highly related with P4, and the relationship between P60 and P4 was significantly as well. The ICC test showed a good consistency between P6 & P4, as well as P60 & P4. However, the Bland-Altman test showed only P60 & P4 have a good consistency. Conclusion: The power of P60 was highly related with P4 and the data was good consistency between these two tests. Thus, the 60-min test on rowing ergometer can be considered as an alternative method to measure athletes' power in replacing the anaerobic threshold test.
