Functional Data Analysis of Characteristics in the Development of Galloping Performance

    • Object:This research analyzed the characteristics in the development of preschoolers galloping performance by qualitative and quantitative methods, and discussed the application effect of functional data analysis in the study of preschoolers galloping.Method:16 preschoolers aged 3.5 from a kindergarten in Beijing were selected for a two years follow-up test.Qualitative evaluation of preschoolers' galloping movement based on motion development sequence theory.Using functional data analysis to extract the kinematic characteristics of lower limbs in preschoolers at different stages of development.Results:1) 3.5 to 5.5 years old preschoolers' developmental sequence for leg action in galloping can be divided into 3 stages, and preschoolers of the same age in different developmental stages;2) sensitive indicators for different stages of galloping are second functional principal component for leading leg hip joint, first functional principal component for leading leg knee joint, and first functional principal component for tracking leg hip joint.Conclusion:1) Galloping movement development is not age-determined,and preschoolers of the same age have different developmental characteristics;2) this study obtains the sensitive indicators for different stages of galloping through functional data analysis, and supports the application of functional data analysis techniques in galloping movement development in the future.
