    Determinants and Correlates of Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior in Chinese Children and Adolescents:A Systematic Review

    • The health issue related to physical inactivity and sedentary lifestyle is becoming more and more serious among Chinese children and adolescents over the past decades,while the research in exploring the relationships and determinants of physical activity(PA)and sedentary behaviour(SED)in children and adolescents is a hot research topic in nowadays.Objective:To analyse the correlates/determinants of PA and SED among Chinese children and adolescent,and to examine the effects of biological/demographic, social-psycho/affective/cognitive, behavioural, cultural/social and environmental dimensions on PA and SED.Methods:The Pub Med,Web of Science(WOS),Psyc INFO,SPORTDiscus,CNKI,Wan Fang and VIP databases were used to search literatures from 1 st Jan.,2010 to 31 th Dec.,2018,67 articles were finally included in this study after 2 rounds of screening.Results:The sample size is 34~81 857 in these included articles,it is showed that the factors of gender,psychological needs,sports health beliefs,cognitive ability,fitness interest motivation and value orientation,self-efficacy,fitness habits,parental support,parent companionship,parental education encouragement,sports policy support of school,community sports facilities,sports administrative implementation and policy support guarantees,social support,place of residence,family surroundings,teacher's social support,parental education level and family structure are positively related to PA. In addition,the factors of age,family structure,and self-assessed academic performance are negatively correlated with SED,but the depression is positively correlated with SED. Suggestion:The above-mentioned correlates/determinants should be considered in further studies related to policy-making and intervention. In addition,more national-wide research is needed to determine the factors influencing PA and SED.
