Abstract
Anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) injury is a kind of common and severe sports injury. Traditional basic experiments and biomechanical methods have been used to explore ACL injuries from a single index or target, but which do not reflect the potential mechanism and effects of ACL injury and treatment thoroughly and comprehensively. Recently, omics technologies acting as novel methods of precise medicine have facilitated the researches of ACL injury, including its mechanisms, treatments and complications. This paper briefly reviewed the application of omics technologies in ACL injury researches. Regarding the etiology of ACL injury, omics studies have further elucidated the potential pathways and mechanisms of anatomical factors of ACL injury, found that component differences may also played a role in the risk of gender differences in ACL injury, and screened genes and susceptibility loci related to ACL injury which could further supplement the genetic factors of ACL injury. Omics studies have been performed in the treatment of ACL injury, mainly involving the choice of operation time, evaluation of surgical approach, composition analysis of the graft, and assessment of treatments and rehabilitation methods. Omics studies have also provided new ideas and methods for the diagnosis, treatments and prognosis of post-traumatic arthritis(PTOA) after ACL injury. However, it still has a lot of room for development, such as applying multi-omics technologies in ACL injury researches, exploring assessment indexes of returning to sports and prognosis biomarkers of PTOA.
