Propositions for Building a Leading Sport Nation in the New Era:Concept,Role and Insights of the Integration of Sports and Education

The Integration of Sports and Education is a vital proposition for building a leading sport nation in the New Era, which shows the way for the development of youth sports. As youth sports is the most basic and strategic work in the development of building a sports nation, it is inevitable to put forward the new idea, the Integration of Sports and Education, to promote youth sports. Through literature review and expert interviews, this article analyses the new proposition from four sides: the significance,concept, roles and development of the Integration of Sports and Education. It is shown that the Integration of Sports and Education is not only a momentous appeal for building a leading sports nation, but also an important method to fix the shortest plank of youth sports. The concept of the Integration of Sports and Education breaks through the binary opposition. It is not a simple integration of educational and sports administrative departments, but real thrive of the young, which responds to different appeals of related departments. The key points of the Integration of Sports and Education lie in solving the atrophy of student-athlete and realizing the high-quality development of school sports. To promote the Integration of Sports and Education in the New Era, it is advised to draw advanced experiences from other countries and design at the top level and overall planning with Chinese characteristics. Domestic scholars are suggested to conduct in-depth research on the Integration of Sports and Education, to use relevant studies from leading sport nations for reference and to put theory into the practice of youth sports.
