Role of GluR in PD and the Research Progress of Exercise Regulated GluR in PD Treatment

    • Parkinson's disease(PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disease that seriously affects the health and life quality in middle-aged and elderly people. The degeneration and loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta of the midbrain resulting in excessive glutamatergic(Glu) signaling in the basal ganglia(BG) which is associated with PD progression.Current research was focused on the discovery and development of compounds that modulate Gluergic signaling through Glu receptors(GluR), which was considered as drugs for the treatment of PD. Exercise therapy, as a simple and non-pharmacological adjuvant therapy without side effects, has a positive effect in alleviating PD-related behavioral dysfunction, and the mechanism may be related to the expression level of GluR in the BG region. This study reviewed the current research related to the role of GluR in PD and the effects of exercise on PD treatment, in order to provide reference for the research of PD therapeutic drugs and pathophysiological mechanisms, and to promote the improvement of comfortable physical therapy.
