The Value of Traditional Ethnic Sports in Building a Common Spiritual Home of the Chinese Nation on the New Journey in the New Era and the Path Forward

Traditional ethnic sports, as the gem of fine traditional Chinese culture, perform a significant role as the spiritual tie in the cohesion of national spirit and the maintenance of national unity. Using the research methods of literature data analysis and logical analysis, the researchers interpreted the value of a common spiritual home of the Chinese nation by the medium of the most representative cultural icons and spiritual symbols embodied in traditional ethnic sports such as Wushu(Chinese martial arts), the Dragon Dance and the Lion Dance, the Drum Dance of the Miao ethnic group, Dragon Boat Racing, and also presented an analysis of the paths forward. The researchers hold that on the new journey in the new era, the building of a common spiritual home of the Chinese nation from traditional ethnic sports is valuable for the deepening of patriotic education, the inheritance of fine traditional Chinese culture,the consolidation of the foundation of national unity and progress, and for meeting the people's expectations for a better life. Then,the researchers recommended the paths to a common spiritual home of the Chinese Nation on the new journey in the new era.Specifically, the proposed paths are to establish a development system of traditional ethnic sports based on new thinking, to push for creative transformation and innovative advancement of traditional ethnic sports culture, to create the most representative cultural icons and spiritual symbols of traditional ethnic sports, and to hold traditional sports events and activities to propel the contact,exchange and integration of all ethnic groups.
