    The Preparation Strategy of Men's 500 m Speed Skating Champion Gao Tingyu in Beijing Winter Olympics

    • To enhance the preparation and competition level for the Olympic speed skating events, a systematic analysis of Gao Tingyu’s training and competition during the final phase of Olympic preparation is conducted from a technological support perspective, which was including theoretical analysis and practical validation. This study suggests that the in-depth analysis of specialized sports techniques, physical fitness, and physiological functions is a prerequisite in conducting scientific training. The efficient and intensive operation of an integrated scientific training team can achieve the unification of scientific research and training. Technical optimization and training innovation are key points in Gao Tingyu’s Olympic preparation. Technical optimization is achieved through wind tunnel training and the analysis of the biomechanical characteristics, and the training innovation is reflected in conceptual innovation(the “long board effect”) and methodological innovation(ice speed-overload training). Gao Tingyu’s Olympic preparation strategies are mainly include: 1) Deep understanding of the characteristics of speed skating events and the implementation of scientific training concepts; 2) strengthening the efficient operation of the integrated scientific training team;3) achieving breakthroughs in core competitive abilities based on technological innovation.
