    On the Culture of Sports

    • Sports culture is the most prevalent cultural form in contemporary society, encompassing a variety of values. The primary groups of participants in sports culture are primarily adolescents in school, the general public, and professional athletes.Corresponding to these three primary groups, sports culture also manifests as having three distinct cultural aspects: educational, recreational, and spectatorship, forming both a heterogeneous intra-sport cultural structure and a homogeneous inter-sport cultural bond. These three manifestations of sports culture, influenced by historical evolution, the nature of the games, sports skills, and the needs of the participants, complement each other, mutually benefit, and present a unified tripartite state. The educational aspect of sports establishes the foundation for the cultural aspects of sports in social engagement, value norms, skill acquisition, and organizational development. Presently, sports culture needs to address issues such as misconceptions about sports, mismatches in intra-sport culture, and disconnections between inter-sport cultures.
